Première Vision, a permanent evolution

More than 35 years ago, 15 Lyons weavers dared to launch a completely unheard of promotional and marketing venture.

Their approach was confirmed and expanded by a succession of ever bolder improvements. Never resting on its achievements, Première Vision chose instead to call itself continually into question in order to mark even greater progress.

SEPTEMBER 2009: Two new events in Japan and Brazil round out Première Vision's international network

Japan: Première Vision Tokyo / Jitac

Première Vision has just signed a coopération with Jitac (the Japan Imported Textile Agency Council), the association of Japanese textile agents, which is responsible for organising the Jitac European Textile Fair (JETF), through which it becomes co-organiser of the show, located in the prestigious Tokyo Forum in the centre of the Japanese capital and leader in the domestic market.
As of March 2010, Première Vision Tokyo / Jitac, as the new show will enceforth be called, will continue to welcome as exhibitors Japanese agents representing foreign, primarily European, weavers, in addition, now, to international firms working in the areas of knits, wovens and accessories, companies selected by Première Vision.

Brésil: Première Brasil by Première Vision

Created as a joint-venture between Première Vision and the Brazilian company Fagga Eventos, a national leader in event organisation and a subsidiary of the GL events group, partner and shareholder in Première Vision.
Première Brasil will bring together mainly Brazilian and Latin American producers. These industrialists, who will need to own their own production facilities, will also need to be capable of proposing and updated collection each season. The Latin American producers of yarns, fabrics and accessories will be joined by a contingent of international companies already exhibiting at Première Vision and with an interest in these growing markets.

August 2008: Première Vision acquires Direction, the leading American textile design show

Direction is the must-see event for designers and decision-makers from the most creative brands and influential companies in the United States and Canada. By its acquisition of Direction, Première Vision increases the global leadership of its Indigo brand in textile design by assuring a direct presence in the American market.

2008 : Première Vision and Tarsus team up to develop the ModAmont accessories trade fair.

On 1 January 2008, Première Vision purchased 49% of the capital in Sepic SAS, the company that owns and organises ModAmont, from Tarsus. This partnership formed between Tarsus and Première Vision will allow ModAmont to strengthen its efficiency within Première Vision Pluriel, and accelerate its development, particularly overseas. With this strengthened synergy, Première Vision Pluriel aims to assure its place as a meeting place marked by a richness, coherency and efficiency unequalled in the fashion universe. A subsidiary of the English group Tarsus Plc, specialised in the organisation of international exhibitions and listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1998, Tarsus France is asserting itself as a leader in B-to-B communications tools in the high technology and marketing sectors. With ModAmont, it is broadening its activity in the universe of fashion trade shows, demonstrating its interest in this rapidly evolving sector.

2007 : Première Vision creates Denim by Première Vision

Taking into account the trends of the market and the interests of key operators active in the fashion sector, Première Vision created in 2007 a new event entirely dedicated to jeans fabrics, «Denim by Première Vision». The June 2008 edition gathered 60 exhibitors and welcomed more than 1,500 visitors.

2007: Première Vision welcomes two new shareholders active in events and exhibitions.

The GL events and Eurovet companies take a 24.5 % share in the capital of Première Vision SA. The Première Vision Association, which represents the French textile industrialists, maintains majority control of the company.

Through this operation, Première Vision rounds out the textile professionals who are its historic shareholders, with major and complementary actors from the exhibition sector. This move will make it possible, starting from the leading role played by Première Vision, to progressively develop an offer of fairs that is without equivalent in the world, and allow Première Vision to strengthen its unique identity in an ever more concentrated trade fair sector.

2006: The fair’s new segmentation

The work of fashion designers and buyers evolve in response to an increasingly versatile consumer market. The constant search for bespoke products has led to new methods of mixing different fabrics and technologies in collections. At the same time, each has its own distinctive style.
To respond efficiently to such working methods in the creation of collections, Première Vision offers a new segmentation of the weavers' product offer in 4 universes.

2005: Indigo joins Première Vision and Expofil in Première Vision S.A.

The Indigo show is the leading exhibition for textile design and creation. Now managed by the Première Vision S.A. teams, Indigo will maintain its complete identity within the new ensemble, and will benefit from an excellent professional synergy with Première Vision and Expofil. This operation will help strengthen the coherence and impact of the unique international fashion event that brings together the PVE shows, with ModAmont and Le Cuir à Paris.

2005: Première Vision Pluriel

The Indigo show is the leading exhibition for textile design and creation. Managed by the Première Vision S.A. teams, Indigo maintains its complete identity within the new ensemble, and will benefit from an excellent professional synergy with Première Vision and Expofil. This operation strengthens the coherence and impact of the unique international fashion event that brings together the Première Vision shows, with ModAmont and Le Cuir à Paris.

2004: Première Vision and Expofil join forces in Première Vision S.A.

This operation, which brings together the two leading events in the two main textile industries, makes it possible to strengthen the synergies already in place between these two shows. It also makes it possible to reinforce the ability of the new ensemble to adapt to the evolution of textile markets, and enhance its development potential internationally.

September 2002

Selective opening to non-European weavers. Faithful to its desire to propose the best apparel textile offer to its buyers, Première Vision for the first time welcomes weavers from countries outside Europe.

February 2002

Première Vision gets a new look Wishing to update and modernize the whole Salon, Première Vision calls on architect, designer and urban planner Jean-Michel Wilmotte.

2000: Première Vision identifies performance

The performance codes are 16 registered pictograms and a key, which identify particular functions of today’s textiles: waterproofing, breathability, thermo-regulation, anti-UV and anti bacterial protection...

1998

To refine its services and improve contacts between exhibitors and buyers, Première Vision inaugurates a day exclusively reserved for pre-registered buyers.

1997

To involve the weavers more closely in the trend elaboration process, the European Concertation takes place in two stages: the “Impulsion Concertation”, which leads to the colour and fabric orientations of the season, then the “Focalisation Concertation”, which confirms the individual undertakings of the European weavers.

This year also witnesses the birth of the Première Vision International Observatory, a socio-cultural surveillance unit, instituted on a global scale, whose aim is to identify the emerging trends likely to influence the textile and fashion industries.

1994

Première Vision decides to better identify its visitors and to qualify the true fabric buyers in order to provide a further guarantee to its partners, the weaver-exhibitors.

1990

By regrouping the Salon’s offer into product sectors (presented up till then by country), Première Vision speaks for the evolution of consumer lifestyles.

1984

Première Vision installs itself in the new Parc des Expositions of Paris-Nord Villepinte, near the international airports.

1980

Première Vision opens its doors to European weavers, putting the accent on European creativity, while reaffirming their basic principle of exhibitor selectivity.

1977

The Lyons weavers are joined by other sectors of the French weaving industry.

1976

Birth of a “trends concertation”: weavers decide to meet together before the Salon to propose a synthesis of seasonal colour and fabric trends , paving the way for a coherence in the textile offer, and market structure.

1973

It all began with a joint promotion undertaken by 15 Lyons weavers, who step out ahead of the market by presenting their fabric collections at the International Textile Centre in Paris.
